Let me ask you a question: how important is it to you to Have Fun in your life?
Sometimes people think that Having Fun is a frivolous pursuit…but having fun, and experiencing Pleasure, is a very powerful catalyst for making healthy changes with your life and body, and sticking to them!
Pleasure–now that’s a great word!
Aaaah, pleasure. Pleasure is a way to say in one word: the art of feeling good, of making choices to care for yourself, having fun and adventure in your life, and creating opportunities to feel GOOD, GOOD, GOOD!
Pleasure is synomnous with FEELING GOOD.
Usually we are really focused on accomplishing things and checking items off our to-do list. But, have you ever noticed that as soon as you check one item off this list, there are always 1 or 10 more things to add?
Do you ever find yourself waiting until all or many of the items are checked off of the list–and THEN you will do some special things to take care of yourself, to be in pleasure, to stop and smell the roses of life?
Well, you can wait a long time for that to-do list to be cleared. Like, forever.
I found this to be true when I was the Executive Director of the non-profit that I founded and ran for 11 years. I was waiting around for the “Break-Time Fairy” to come and bonk me on the head and say: “take a vacation, or take Friday off to get a pedicure and read a book in the sun, or geez, at least eat lunch someplace other than your desk!”
The Break-Time Fairy never did come and bonk me on the head. I worked through my lunches and often my dinners. And my health and my naturally cheerful and positive personality drastically suffered as a result. As did all of my staff, my partner, my dog–everyone around me. (oops!
)
You see, when Theresa is in Pleasure–meaning feeling really good–she is a force of nature–someone that is so creative and loving and funny and energetic. She is a gorgeous whirlwind of good in the world.
Being in Pleasure is Extremely Powerful. It makes the rest of your life easier. Items literally LEAVE your to-do list! People show up and do them for you. You think of a faster and more fun way and you skip that to-do item all together. The items on your to-do list become FUN to do. You take Pleasure in doing them. Or, you at least find ways to see the HUMOR in less pleasant to-do items.
And being in Pleasure, and having fun and adventure in your life, is a great way to care for your health. Feeling pleasure releases hormones and nuero-transmitters that are essential to feeling happy, and also losing weight and developing resilience with daily stress in your life.
Sonia Lupien, renowned stress researcher, sings the praises of creating more fun, rest, and daily movement in your life to counteract the degenerative effects of stress. Dr. Harlan Bieley, anti-aging and hormone specialist, also agrees that “losing weight with pleasure” is a much faster and fun way to work with your body to have a fit and healthy body and overall vitality.
When you are in Pleasure, you are your most Powerful.
Did I state the case for Pleasure well enough?
Ok, so you may be thinking. Ah pleasure, that sounds great! But how can I get some?
Well, I think that one of the best ways to get into Pleasure on a daily basis is to have fun moving your body! Get your daily dose of oxygen and endorphins on!
Now some people find themselves “stuck in a rutt of sitting on their butts”…ready for some Pleasurable Movement inspiration?
Now, let’s delve into How Dancing Helps You Get Into Pleasure…
When you dance with your hips to inspiring music, it’s like plugging yourself into an electric socket and infusing yourself with joy and delight. Yes, dancing with your hips feels so good!
In fact, I think that our hips are actually the “Pleasure Center” of our bodies…and when you play the music with your hips, and dance with the Pleasure Center of your body…you feel sensual, alive and free…
And you’ll turn on your “lovelight” when you dance…dancing with your hips turns on your natural magnetism and charisma…and other people can’t help but be drawn to you, like a moth to a flame!
Plus, dancing with your hips makes you feel sexy and confident…and working your hips to the beat of the music is your ticket to have the most fun dancing in a dance class, night club, party or wedding, and even your own kitchen as you make dinner at night (or any other room of the house
)…
Dancing adds more fun, adventure, and romance to your life, for sure!
So, how exactly do you dance with the “Pleasure Center” of your body?
Now in order to dance with your hips, you need to bend your knees when you dance, and dance from a seated position.
Plus, as a great pleasurable bonus, when you bend your knees when you dance and ride the music with your hips…
It’s much like doing squats the whole time you are dancing. And you may have heard how great squats are for you. In fact Stuart Phillips, Ph.D., professor of kinesiology at McMaster University and a resistance training expert, shares that squats are the best exercise you can do to burn fat and build muscle in your body.
So not only will get the maximum amount of movement from your hips when you bend your knees when you dance, you’ll also feel great knowing that you’re burning fat while you’re dancing…and afterwards too…anywhere and everywhere you choose to get down to music!
So now, get out your Calendar and Schedule some Pleasurable Movement, beauty!

Now one more important thing about Pleasure before I go….I have to say that the best way to enjoy more Pleasure in your life…is to actually schedule it! Yes!
I actually schedule my dance sessions….my walks in the park…my lunch dates with inspiring girlfriends…In a “to-do list” world, I’ve found that if you don’t schedule it…and enjoy looking forward to it…pleasure just continues to not happen.
